Plone Developer

LocationBrighton, UK
SalaryTBA
Closing Date 30/9/2005

Job description:

We have an opening for a new team member to assist us with the development of customised websites based on the Plone content management system (CMS). This position will mainly involve translating graphical website designs into 'skinned' versions of Plone and modifying and debugging Plone products in order to develop the Plone-based web applications that our clients require.

We need someone who will be able to work closely and enthusiastically with our design team in order to provide feedback regarding the restrictions that Plone might place on a proposed design with the aim of producing stylish, creative and accessible Plone websites.

Additional background:

We are a small and flexible team and, while we each have our specialist subject areas, we also often find ourselves taking on additional roles as necessary in order to get our work done and keep our clients satisfied. While the main responsibilities of this post are outlined above, applicants who demonstrate a willingness to work in an environment and within a team like ours will be considered favourably.

We can't be very specific about what this might involve, but it includes things like maintaining the smooth running of our web servers, maintaining and updating internal systems, dealing with clients, managing MySQL databases, etc.

In return for your willingness to contribute to our team in this way, you will be given the freedom to research and explore your own interests in relation to our work. We actively encourage you to be innovative and are constantly striving to expand our methodological and technical boundaries and introduce new working techniques.

Skills range:

You will need to have strong skills and a high level of experience in Zope, Plone, Python, XHTML and CSS techniques. Additional desirable skills include AJAX, a good knowledge of LAMP technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) and an interest in open source software.

The successful applicant will be bright, self motivated and have good team-communication skills.
